January 1, Newsom Plans November Special Election to Redraw California’s Congressional Maps

Hey folks, it’s Wyatt Porter here bringing you the latest news. You know that California governor, Gavin Newsom? Well, he’s up to something again. This time, he’s planning a special election in November to change up the voting maps in California. And guess what? These new maps are all about giving Democrats an edge.

Here’s what’s happening. Newsom wants to redraw the districts so it’s easier for Democrats to win more seats. He’s saying it’s a fair response to what Texas did. Over in Texas, they’re trying to hold onto Republican power by tweaking their own maps. But, let’s be real, Newsom is just trying to play the same game to help his own buddies in the Democratic Party.

Now, this isn’t just any old plan. Newsom needs a big majority in the California legislature to make this happen. Luckily for him, the Democrats have a supermajority, so they can probably push it through without breaking a sweat.

Usually, California has an independent group that handles redistricting. But, nope, not this time. Newsom wants to skip that and take it straight to the voters. That’s making a lot of folks, especially Republicans, pretty upset. They’re calling it “undemocratic.”

But Newsom is arguing that putting it on the ballot is fair. He says it’s all above board and just a reaction to “rigging” efforts by big figures like President Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. He says it’s a big moment, and they can’t just sit back.

The whole thing’s gonna come up for a vote in November, right alongside other elections to save on costs. Remember that pricey recall election California had in 2021? Newsom says this one won’t burn such a big hole in the pocket.

At the end of the day, it’s a classic case of political maneuvering. It’s clear Newsom’s got his eyes on helping his own party outshine the rest. Let’s keep an eye on how this unfolds and what it means for us. Stay strong, America!

Wyatt Matters!

Governor Gavin Newsom is planning a special election in November to change the voting maps in California. He believes that redrawing the districts will make it easier for Democrats to win more seats. Newsom says this is a fair move to balance out what Texas is doing, as they are adjusting their maps to keep more Republicans in power. However, this seems to be a chance for Newsom to help his fellow Democrats in the state.

To make these changes happen, Newsom needs support from a majority of the California legislature. Thankfully for him, Democrats have a strong majority, making it likely they can pass this plan without much trouble. Interestingly, redistricting is usually done by an independent group here, but Newsom wants to let the voters decide directly. This has upset many people, especially Republicans, who think skipping the usual process is not fair.

Newsom argues that letting voters decide the new maps is a straightforward approach. He says it’s necessary because of efforts by folks like President Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott who he claims are trying to control voting to their advantage. Newsom wants to make sure this election doesn’t cost too much, so it’s scheduled to happen with other elections. In the end, this is all about politics, with Newsom aiming to boost his party’s chances. We’ll have to watch closely to see what this means for everyone in California and around the country.

The permitted invasion of the illegals by the Demonocrats and RINOs was the #1 reason for them being here; to help the cheating demons in any election. The illegals were going to be able to vote too. Demonocrats have been cheating in elections since 1898. If they thought they would get away with it, they would KILL to maintain their power/corruption. You want proof ?….remember Trump was shot at a rally. They’ll try it again.

California voters passed a constitutional amendment in 2008 that established a non-partisan independent redistricting commission to draw district lines for state legislative and congressional districts, aiming to reduce partisan influence in the process. This commission was further empowered in 2010 to handle congressional redistricting as well. Newsom is demonstrating his lack of respect for residents and the State Legislature of California by ignoring the established procedures.

Frank, does that mean that Newsom is violating the state Constitution?

So, educate the voters, and let’s see if we can beat this like the voters approved Prop 36 that is also ignored by Sacramento.

Are the Republicans in Texas, even allowing the voters to make their wishes known on redistricting?

In the 2024 general election, the Republicans won about 41% of the votes for Congressional seats; however, with the way the districts are CURRENTLY drawn, the Republicans won only 9 of 52 seats in California, or about 17% of the seats. That is WAY OUT OF LINE with the idea of one man (or woman), one vote and clear evidence of “gerrymandering” to exclude Republicans. I suspect the situation is much the same in the State Senate and Legislature. The Democrats are ALREADY cheating, but even that is not sufficient for their lust for absolute power. It is time for a federal lawsuit to change things in California, for the roughly 41% of Republican voters do not receive proper representation in the US Congress.

The typical response to things not going how they want. Change the laws voted for by the people,to fit their cheating ways!
When will the fools in Sacramento, San Francisco,& L.A. wake up,& see how badly they are being taken advantage of by the crooks they vote into office?

Again, how is that worse than what the Republicans are doing in Texas? The republicans started this whole seat stealing episode by doing whatever Trump tells them to do.

On Friday, SCOTUS ordered the DOJ to produce an official position on Race Based Gerrymandering. They are combining several cases into one, and they look like they are inclined to throw out Race Based Gerrymandering as unconstitutional!!! I urge everyone to look at a current Congressional map of CA, particularly LA and SF. Each district has HUNDREDS of boundary lines, blatantly diluting Conservative representation. If SCOTUS overturns Race Based Gerrymandering, all of this will have to be redrawn.

Remember when they put gay marriage on the ballot and Californians voted it down?
It didn’t matter. They went round their own voters and pushed it through the Suckpreme Court.

You mean like republican legislators in Missouri and Arizona are trying to overturn voter approved measures to protect abortion? Or how Republican Florida legislators tried to come up with restrictions on ex felons voting that their voters had approved? Or republican legislators in Alaska and Nebraska rolling back, sickly benefits that their voters had approved? Or how Republicans in Florida, Utah, Montana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Ohio, North Dakota, and South Dakota are trying to restrict citizen lead ballot initiatives to make it harder for voters to change their laws? Do republicans have any values besides hypocrisy?
