Governor Newsom shut down parts of I-5, blaming the White House for disrupting travel during a Marine Corps celebration.

He claimed the Trump team forced the move, though the Marines confirmed their event at Camp Pendleton wouldn’t affect public roads.

The event brought in Marines, veterans, and families, but the governor’s office still claimed a “vanity parade” would shut down the interstate.

Newsom’s staff kept warning of risk and distraction, while the White House and Corps insisted it was all safe and on base grounds.

Republicans quickly called the closure political, not about safety, pointing out that military leaders had no request for road shutdowns.

Governor Newsom did not reply to further questions.
