January 1, Mob Attacks Feds After Illegal Alien Ram
Wyatt’s Take
- Illegal immigrants rammed a federal vehicle and then a mob attacked agents.
- Federal officers used tear gas after rocks and bottles were thrown at them.
- Cartels are reportedly targeting Border Patrol in Chicago neighborhoods.
Federal agents in Chicago faced a violent scene after trying to arrest illegal immigrants who crashed into a Border Patrol vehicle and tried to run. A crowd gathered, throwing rocks and bottles at agents before officers had to use tear gas to protect themselves.
“This morning while conducting an immigration enforcement operation in Chicago, a vehicle, driven by an illegal alien, rammed a Border Patrol vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. Border Patrol pursued the vehicle and was eventually able to stop it utilizing an authorized precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver. Once the vehicle was stopped, the suspects, who are both illegal aliens, attempted to flee on foot. As Border Patrol arrested the subjects and attempted to secure the scene, a crowd began to form and eventually turned hostile and eventually crowd control measures were used,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement regarding the incident.
“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers. The fact that this attack was carried out by two illegal immigrants highlights the need for federal law enforcement to continue to do their job of enforcing the laws of our nation — all while receiving no pay thanks to the Democrats’ government shutdown,” DHS said.
Chicago Police confirmed they responded after the clash and had no part in the federal operation. Officers documented the crash and then tried to de-escalate the situation as the crowd grew more hostile toward federal agents. Tear gas deployed in the area also affected several Chicago officers, who had to file reports about their exposure.
Attacks on border agents are rising in Illinois as cartels place bounties on agents’ heads and use gang spotters to watch law enforcement from rooftops. Efforts by the Trump administration to bring in the National Guard have been blocked in the courts so far.
When federal officers stand between lawbreakers and our communities, they deserve our full support. We can’t let mobs or criminals push them back or threaten their lives. That’s what keeps our neighborhoods safer and our laws respected.
Wyatt Matters
Standing with law enforcement is what holds our towns together. When outsiders attack our officers, it’s a direct threat to every hardworking family trying to live safely and by the rules.
