January 1, WATCH: Marjorie Taylor Greene Gets into Physical Altercation with Activist

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1947: The Central Intelligence Agency officially comes into existence after being established by President Truman in July.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) had an altercation with a protestor that turned physical when the congresswoman appeared to kick the activist during a tense exchange about national gun violence.

Greene was leaving a news conference on Thursday afternoon when she was approached by gun control activists from the Gen Z group Voters of Tomorrow, including 18-year-old deputy communications director Marianna Pecora.

The congresswoman posted a video of the confrontation, where the two briefly discuss gun legislation before Pecora starts to walk in front of Greene. The lawmaker appears irritated and can be seen tripping over Pecora’s heel, saying, “excuse me.”

The clip shows Greene saying “excuse me” once again and appears to kick Pecora’s leg. The activist then says, “Oh my God.”

A man identified by The Guardian as Nick Dyer, Greene’s communications director, says: “You’re blocking a member of Congress. You can’t block members of Congress.”

“These foolish cowards want the government to take away guns & the rights of parents to defend their children in schools,” Greene wrote on Twitter. “You have to be an idiot to think gun control will create a utopian society where criminals disarm themselves and obey the law. ‘Gun-free’ zones kill people.”

Pecora responded to the congresswoman on Twitter: “Did she literally just tweet out the video of her kicking me?”

Dyer, Greene’s spokesperson, denied the allegation. “There’s literally nothing on video to suggest that Congresswoman Greene did anything,” Dyer told The Washington Post.

Voters for Tomorrow told WaPo they were “talking to our legal team. We’re keeping our options open. Obviously, it’s very inappropriate for anyone to engage in violence and that does not stop at members of Congress.”

Having been both kicked and stumbled over, I guess I have a MUCH DIFFERENT idea of what “kicked” and “stumbled over” are.
