January 1, Kimmel Pulled After Trump Supporter Attack Plan
Wyatt’s Take
- Disney took Jimmy Kimmel off ABC after controversial remarks about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
- Kimmel refused to apologize and wanted to further attack Trump supporters on air.
- His show has lost viewers, especially among working-age adults.
Jimmy Kimmel was taken off ABC by Disney after refusing to apologize for comments he made about the killing of conservative figure Charlie Kirk. He had planned to use his next monologue to double down and target supporters of Donald Trump, arguing they distorted his remarks, but Disney executives stepped in before he could go on air.
The move came after pressure from ABC affiliate stations and the FCC, sparking talk across the country about censorship and free speech. According to reports, Disney leadership worried that more on-air comments from Kimmel would pour fuel on the fire and worsen the backlash.
In his earlier comments, Kimmel accused conservatives of “trying to score political points” from the incident, saying,
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,”
referencing the suspect Tyler Robinson.
Law enforcement and Utah’s governor said the suspect held leftist beliefs and was recently radicalized, along with details about a transgender relationship. Prosecutors confirmed these connections in a formal indictment.
Sources say Kimmel stood by his comments, feeling no apology was necessary. Affiliate groups had already started pulling his show, and Disney executives felt removing him was the only option to cool things down.
Kimmel’s program has seen ratings nose-dive since 2015, losing viewers across all age groups. By 2025, he lost over one-third of his audience and nearly three-quarters of his main advertising demographic.
Wyatt Matters
Actions have consequences, and when Hollywood elites look down on everyday Americans, the country notices. Standing up to media bias matters to families in the heartland who value truth over spin.
