Wyatt’s Take

  • Dick Vitale blasts Kentucky Wildcats for wasting $22 million in NIL money on a weak 19-12 roster.
  • No moral victories allowed for a program like Kentucky, especially at home.
  • Wildcats face tough SEC Tournament path starting against LSU.

ESPN legend Dick Vitale ripped into the Kentucky Wildcats during their loss to Florida.

The team fell 84-77, sitting at 19-12 with 12 losses already.

I’m going to say this right here, I’ve done several Kentucky games, win or lose, $22 million this team [which has been reported] in terms of the NIL for their players, Vitale said.

I think in $22 million, they could have put together a better roster than they did. I really do.

I’ll tell you one thing, you don’t want to walk out of here thinking you got a moral victory.

Moral victories don’t count at this level of basketball… The bottom line is you’re Kentucky. You’re Kentucky. And you’ve got to leave here with a win, especially at home. There are no moral victories. Come on. I don’t want to hear that.

Once dominant under John Calipari, now led by Mark Pope, Kentucky hit Sweet 16 last year but struggles at 10-8 in SEC.

They open SEC Tournament Wednesday versus No. 16 LSU, needing a hot streak for good NCAA seeding.

Folks, big money promises don’t always deliver wins—tell us your take on NIL ruining college hoops.

This portal business will corrupt college sports and already is doing it. It is taking away from fans a “real” experience, just like the NFL has done!

If Dick Vitale thinks KY is bad, have him take a look at Syracuse. Once proud program reduced to ridicule and scorn. JMA Wireless Dome which holds over 30K fans, lucky to get half that this year. NIL has absolutely ruined college BB.

As stated yesterday in a totally different article. Half baked truths never get the job done, promises of success hardly ever materializes. Truth is hard work. It is interesting to watch these leaders of of NCAA etc. promote money, when all the average customers/viewers want is a winner (winners) through arduous work good sportsmanship, hard work creates character that provides a realistic future for these sportsman. I had already shut off the NFL, am I going to have to shut off all avenues to our beloved college basketball also?

Around 1948 Kentucky was involved in a Big Gambling deal with players throwing games .Kansas and Kansas state were paying their big centers like Clyde Lovellte and Bob Booser. than Wilt Chambiner ku. So, now NIL keeps it up front.
