Wyatt’s Take

- Court says these decisions bring a real human cost.
- Supreme Court recently warned about overusing such court orders.
A federal judge just stopped President Trump’s attempt to let go of federal workers during the current government shutdown.
Judge Susan Illston said
“It’s very much ready, fire, aim on most of these programs, and it has a human cost.”
“It’s a human cost that cannot be tolerated,”
She added.
The shutdown began after the Senate could not agree on a new funding plan.
Republicans say Democrats want to spend tax dollars on health care for illegal immigrants. Democrats say their goal is to cut costs for working families.
Since Trump returned to office, judges have often blocked his efforts to shake up government systems. The Supreme Court recently tried to put limits on how often lower courts can freeze a president’s orders.
Justice Samuel Alito warned that judges might still find new ways to block White House action using broad class action rulings.
