January 1, Jay Jones’ Community Service Raises Big Red Flags

Wyatt’s Take

  • Jay Jones’ court-ordered hours seem to boost Democrat causes, not the public good.
  • He’s under investigation, with questions swirling about his role in a lawsuit and political action group.
  • The big picture: Was his ‘community service’ just campaign activity in disguise?

Jay Jones, a Democrat chasing Virginia’s top law spot, is facing heat for how he handled his court mandated community service. With Election Day looming, his troubles are stacking up.

Reports show that in 2022, Jones was busted for going 116 mph in a 70, charged with reckless driving, but while others got jail, he only paid a fine and did 1,000 hours of community service. Half those hours were with ‘Meet Our Moment,’ his own PAC meant to train Democrats. The hours there were certified by one of his advisers.

The rest of his community service was supposedly with the Virginia NAACP. In 2023, while Jones worked at a big law firm, he helped them sue the Youngkin administration over voting record issues.

Some wonder if Jones counted legal work done as part of his high-paying law job toward his court-ordered service, possibly netting a $435,000 salary while racking up ‘community’ hours. “My community service meant I only made $435,000, not $550,000.”

The bottom line is this: Jones’ community service looks a lot like politics as usual, where court orders are served up in ways that benefit the politician, not the people.

Want the proof? It’s all in the details.

Folks in the heartland know community service is supposed to be about giving back, not paying back political favors. Middle America wants accountability, not backroom deals.
