Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump extended the deadline on Iran while talks continue and military strikes are temporarily paused.
  • Iranian lawmakers are rejecting the negotiations and calling the reports false.
  • U.S. officials say diplomacy is still active, but the Pentagon remains on alert.

President Donald Trump pushed back his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz after reporting high-level talks with a respected official are finally moving forward. The five-day extension stops planned military strikes on Iranian power plants to give diplomacy a short window to work.

Iranian lawmakers are calling the news of these talks a lie and claim they have no interest in making a deal with the United States. Despite their public tough talk, envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have reportedly been in the middle of these intense discussions for days.

The President told reporters that the Iranians want to make a deal and that both sides have already reached several major points of agreement. He shifted from threats of total destruction to an optimistic tone as intermediaries from Egypt and Turkey help pass messages.

“I am pleased to report that the United States and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations,” Trump stated.

The pause on bombing energy targets is strictly temporary and depends on whether Iran shows good faith by the end of the week. Any final agreement would also require Iran to permanently end its missile program and stop funding terror proxies.

Working-class families know that peace is always better than war, but we cannot let our enemies play us for fools while they mine the ocean. We need to see real action from Tehran before we believe their leaders are actually ready to rejoin the civilized world.
