January 1, Illegal Migrant Rams ICE Agents Escaping Arrest
Wyatt’s Take
- ICE agents face danger from illegal migrants using violence.
- Political rhetoric is making law enforcement jobs riskier.
- Attacks on ICE agents are rising at historic levels.
New footage out of San Antonio, Texas shows an illegal immigrant ramming ICE vehicles while trying to get away from arrest. ICE says this suspect from Cuba used his car as a weapon, hitting law enforcement vehicles that were blocking him in.
Agents arrested Robyn Argote Brooks after the incident, and he’s now in ICE custody. According to ICE, Brooks entered the country in 2024 using the Biden administration’s CBP One app.
“One of our officers was injured in this vehicle attack and we are praying for him, his health, and his family. As sanctuary politicians have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest, they have created an environment that incites violence against our law enforcement,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
ICE acting director Todd Lyons called out politicians for encouraging resistance to agents. He said, “When we hear elected officials calling upon individuals to impede or obstruct ICE law enforcement operations nationwide, you’re going to see incidents like this. You saw the officers and agents attempting to apprehend a criminally illegal alien, and there they are using their car as a weapon.”
One ICE officer was hospitalized with neck injuries after being hit. Lyons warned that such attacks have become a daily reality for agents, saying, “It’s constant impediments, constant attacks like this. And it’s not safe for my folks, it’s not safe for the public. It really needs to stop.” He also said organized criminal gangs are now trying to stop enforcement operations.
ICE reports a big jump in violence: 66 vehicle attacks on officers between January 2025 and January 2026, compared to just two the year before. Assaults against ICE are up by over 1,300%.
Lyons also responded to criticism from officials like Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner, who said he’d prosecute unlawful ICE actions. Lyons said, “The men and women of ICE, the men and women of HSI, they’re not committing any crimes. So he doesn’t have to worry about arresting any of my folks, because what we’re doing is we’re enforcing the law. We are out there every day making this nation and his city safe again.” He added that local sanctuary policies are allowing criminal aliens to return and commit serious crimes.
This news comes as another shooting incident involving ICE sparked anger in Minnesota, leading to calls for prosecution. The Trump administration and Republicans say the shooting was justified self-defense.
Wyatt Matters
Every day, law enforcement faces real risks and challenges while trying to protect our communities. Rising violence against officers makes all of us less safe and shows why strong support for law and order is needed in Middle America.
