January 1, ICE Director Todd Lyons Resigns After Years Inside the Agency

- Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons is stepping down after leading the agency through a major period of enforcement.
- He submitted his resignation to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin this Thursday and will stay on through May 31st.
- Lyons said he is leaving to spend more time with his family after two decades with ICE.
Secretary Mullin praised Lyons for helping restore ICE’s ability to do its job.
“Director Lyons has been a great leader of ICE and key player in helping the Trump administration remove murderers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, and gang members from American communities,” Mullin stated.
Before taking the top spot, Lyons served with ICE for two decades.
He also has a background in the Air Force special forces.
“He jumpstarted an agency that had not been allowed to do its job for four years. Thanks to his leadership, American communities are safer,” Mullin continued.
