Wyatt’s Take

  • House Republicans say the FBI went after an agent’s family for speaking up.
  • The FBI questioned the agent’s wife in detail and wouldn’t let her get real legal help.
  • Lawmakers want records from the bureau about this by November 2025.

Jim Jordan, who heads the House Judiciary panel, sent a warning shot to the FBI’s top leader.

He says President Biden’s FBI used its security checks to punish a whistleblower who raised red flags about how agents use their power.

Agent Valentine Fertitta called out the FBI’s behavior and ended up getting his own job review dragged out.

His wife Emily was pulled in for a two-day interview, which lawmakers say broke agency rules.

Emily Fertitta didn’t get to hear advice from her lawyer during the grilling.

“Documents available to the Committee show that SecD investigators denied Mrs. Fertitta the right to receive advice from an attorney during her interview and the opportunity to review FBI guidelines regarding the interview process beforehand,”

lawmakers said in their letter.

The letter says the FBI isn’t supposed to force family members like Emily into interviews where they can’t use their legal rights, including not testifying against their spouse.

Now, Congress wants to see every piece of paper the FBI has about this by November 10th, 2025.
