Wyatt’s Take

  • A Florida community was shattered when 25-year-old Kersten Francilus allegedly attacked 73-year-old Joyce Thompson Adams without provocation.
  • The victim was simply walking her dog when she was stabbed dozens of times in a horrific display of violence.
  • Authorities say the attacker wrongly believed the woman was Jewish and had stopped taking his mental health medication months earlier.

Deputies arrived to find the suspect still plunging a kitchen knife into the victim.

Despite a bystander attempting to intervene, the elderly woman could not be saved from the brutal assault.

“Joy brought joy,” one neighbor told local reporters about the woman often seen walking her dog, Poppy.

Sheriff John Budensiek reported that the wounds were so numerous that the medical examiner could not even count them all.

The arrest affidavit noted the suspect allegedly admitted he just found a lady and killed her.

“Nothing at this point indicates that he’s antisemitic at all, other than the statement that he made,” Budensiek said.

Family members had reportedly warned about the suspect’s behavior after he stopped taking his psychotropic medicine.

His mother allegedly told investigators she found him hiding knives in the kitchen and that he claimed to hear voices.

Wyatt Matters

This tragedy is a painful reminder that communities need stronger protection for innocent people going about ordinary daily life.

That man needs in an asylum for the rest of his existence to ensure he takes his meds to avoid ever harming anyone again, and YES, anyone includes himself.

“ Authorities say the attacker wrongly believed the woman was Jewish …”

Are they saying that if she had been Jewish that in his sick in the head mind that he thought it was justified? That it would have been a little more understandable? You can bet that his soulless lawyers will use that as an excuse.

Violent offenders often stop taking their meds if released. Stop releasing repeat offenders or start taking to the streets to medicate the daily. Period. Or keep them locked up.
