  • Nick Reiner pleads not guilty in parents’ murder case
  • Prosecutors weigh death penalty as family mourns
  • Questions swirl over motive and mental health

Nick Reiner, 32, has entered a not guilty plea after being charged with murdering his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. Prosecutors say the crime could bring a life sentence or even the death penalty if he’s convicted.

During his court appearance, Reiner only answered basic questions from the judge. Details about his defense remain unknown, though there are reports about past struggles with drugs and mental health.

The murders happened on December 14 and left Hollywood in shock. Witnesses allege Nick acted strangely at a party not long before the killings came to light.

His siblings, Romy and Jake, shared their heartbreak after the court date.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

Police records show Romy found their parents at home and warned police about her brother being “dangerous.”

Last month, defense lawyer Alan Jackson walked away from the case, without saying why. Jackson, known for handling difficult celebrity trials, told reporters he had spent “literally every waking hour” on the case but could not share more details for legal reasons.

The story touches on hard questions about family, accountability, and justice.
