January 1, Gorsuch Warns America’s Real Enemy Lives Within
Wyatt’s Take
- Justice Gorsuch says we’re only as free as we are informed.
- Civic education isn’t being taught like it used to be.
- Ignoring history threatens our future as a country.
Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch spotlighted a vital concern: when we forget our nation’s story, we put freedom at risk. He stressed this while talking about his new children’s book on Fox & Friends.
Speaking about “The Heroes of 1776,” Gorsuch explained that the Constitution introduced the world to self-rule and God-given rights.
He warned that these ideals
“required courageous men, women, and children to make happen in 1776, and they require the same of us today.”
He pointed out,
“Thomas Jefferson said an ignorant people will never remain free for long, and he’s right. We need to know our history in order to preserve it.”
Host Lawrence Jones said many schools aren’t teaching these founding stories any longer.
Gorsuch agreed, saying too many kids aren’t learning how government works, and that’s dangerous for our country moving forward.
He explained the real threat America faces is from within, not from outside enemies.
“If you ask me what the greatest danger America faces today, it’s itself. We have to learn how to talk to one another. We need to know our shared history, and I think if we do that, we’ll come to realize that all the things that separate us pale in comparison to the things that unite us — those three great ideas in the Declaration.”
Gorsuch has sounded the alarm on this issue before, writing that the only way for America to thrive is for people to know and care about how their own government works.
He reminds us that our rights and government need steady care.
Don’t take America for granted—share these truths, talk about them at home, and get involved in civic life.
Wyatt Matters
Liberty depends on ordinary folks staying informed and connected; when we let go of our history, we risk everything generations before us built. Our kids deserve to know—and that’s how America stays strong.
