January 1, German Leader Predicts End for Iran’s Mullahs
Wyatt’s Take
- German chancellor says Iran’s rulers are losing their grip.
- Calls for a peaceful end to violent crackdowns on protesters.
- Trump backs protesters with threats of tariffs on countries helping Iran.
Germany’s top official says Iran’s regime is close to falling. He urges Iran’s clerics to stop the harsh crackdowns and find a way out without more bloodshed.
“If a regime can only stay in power through violence, then it is effectively finished. I assume that we are now witnessing the final days and weeks of this regime,” said Chancellor Friedrich Merz during his visit to India.
He added, “I hope there is a way to end this conflict peacefully. The mullah regime has to recognize that as well.”
Former President Trump stepped in last week, warning Tehran to stop harming protesters. He added more pressure this week with a plan to punish countries helping Iran with high tariffs.
Activists say at least 600 protesters have lost their lives, and many more are in jail after Iran’s leaders tried to crush the unrest.
Stay tuned for more on world events that shape America’s future.
Wyatt Matters
Standing up to brutal regimes matters to people here at home. Middle Americans believe freedom and the right to protest shouldn’t end at any border, and it’s right to cheer for those who want their liberty.
