  • Mass protests break out across France over government cuts.
  • Hundreds arrested as roads are blocked and fires set.
  • Political shakeup as a new prime minister steps in.

France erupted in protests Wednesday, with demonstrators blocking roads, starting fires, and clashing with police. Officers made almost 300 arrests as the “Block Everything” movement swept the country, fueled by anger over President Macron’s budget cuts.

“One Prime Minister has just been ousted and straight away we get another from the right,” student Baptiste Sagot said. “They’re trying to make working people, young students, retirees, all people in difficulty, bear all the effort instead of taxing wealth.”

The unrest followed the forced resignation of Prime Minister François Bayrou after he lost a confidence vote. His replacement, Sébastien Lecornu, steps into a country already on edge.

In Paris, police used tear gas to break up crowds trying to block traffic, while protesters hurled objects and set trash bins ablaze. A restaurant fire threatened nearby buildings as firefighters rushed in.

Through Wednesday, police detained over 180 in Paris and more than 100 elsewhere. In Rennes, protesters set a bus on fire. Road blockades and slowdowns reached cities from Marseille in the south to Lille in the north.

The “Block Everything” movement has grown through social media, calling for blockades, strikes, and demonstrations. This comes as the government plans $51 billion in spending cuts to tackle soaring debt—now over 100% of France’s income.

About 80,000 police were sent out to face the protests, reflecting how serious the tensions have become.

When citizens are pushed too far by politicians, unrest boils over. Folks in Middle America know the value of a fair system that works for regular people, not just the wealthy or elite. Government should serve its nation, not burden hardworking families.

Trump is doing the same thing in the US… gutting social services and assistance for struggling families. So he’s a Marxist in your own words? The Conservative Party have been calling for wars for years and then J6 happened with American citizens attacking American institutions. But sure. Let’s call out parties rather than extremist individuals. Great way to unite the country.
