January 1, Fox’s TV License Renewal At Risk Amid Unprecedented FCC Scrutiny
In an unusual move, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has decided to allow the public a broader say regarding the renewal of a Fox TV broadcast station license.
WTXF-TV in Philadelphia, a Fox-owned station, is the focal point of this heightened scrutiny.
The Media and Democracy Project (MAD), an advocacy group, lodged a petition against the station’s renewal, accusing Fox of consistently broadcasting misinformation about election fraud.
This, they argue, played a significant role in the distressing events of January 6, 2021.
“Fox’s intentional news distortion, sanctioned at the highest levels of its corporate structure and fabricated by management and news hosts, amounts to misconduct that violates the FCC’s policy on the character required of broadcast licensees, and was so egregious as to shock the conscience,” the MAD petition read.
While the FCC rarely, if ever, denies a license renewal based on a television station’s content, MAD and other public interest groups believe this is a case where such action is warranted.
Typically, license revocations occur due to legal infringements by station owners or application oversights.
Fox’s management has criticized this move. They argue that license renewals should not be a platform to debate broader policy matters.
Fox also recalls a similar incident in 2007 involving two of its stations, which after a decade of filings, retained their licenses in 2018.
Adding to the complexity, MAD’s petition highlights the recent defamation lawsuit against Fox by Dominion Voting Systems. The media giant settled for a staggering $787.5 million in April.
Fox defended its integrity, saying, “The Media and Democracy Project petition to deny the license renewal of WTXF-TV is frivolous, completely without merit, and asks the FCC to upend the First Amendment and long-standing FCC precedent.”
Noteworthy voices such as Preston Padden, a former Fox executive, and William Kristol, a former Fox News contributor, have supported the call for an evidentiary hearing on the Fox renewal.
They are joined by past FCC members like Ervin Duggan and Alfred Sikes, who have expressed concerns about the network’s pledge to operate in the public’s interest.
MAD praised the FCC’s recent decision.
“This move demonstrates that the Commission is taking seriously the growing bipartisan concerns about Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch’s and Fox Corporation’s character and fitness to remain public interest broadcast licensees,” MAD stated.
With the FCC currently at a political standstill, the decision might hinge on the potential confirmation of Democrat Anna Gomez to the vacant seat.

As ALL of the other networks consistently broadcast highly questionable versions of events, skewing them to demonize portions of the population that they disagree with, it seems to me that the same leeway can and should be given to Fox, which is the only broadcast outlet with any significant viewership which dares to provide a differing opinion on any matters concerning this nation. I believe that having at least two opinions on important topics is vital to the national interest, and that airing views on all sides is the best way for the public to be able to make informed decisions as to who and what to support, who and what to vote for. It is why we have an adversarial governmental arrangement, and why we believe in free speech so strongly. All views should be given a chance to be heard, and a chance to be discussed, in public.

Well, the last thing the Islamo-Nazi press wants is for SOMEONE to report the truth, so, this is it. First they came for Israel, then for Trump, now for Fox. I wonder if the courts would consider getting involved in this insane attempt to silence the first amendment?

I believe in the 1st Amendment. It’s what makes America a democracy. If a business has to constantly look over their shoulder be politically correct, they’re not newsworthy. Fox goes out of its way to research and investigate situations before reporting the news. In my option, Fox does not report misinformation. They do their homework. Other news organizations do not verify the facts before reporting their news. Many have been caught in reporting lies just to get the headline in the Newspapers. That’s not the news I want to hear or trust. F

That’s really rich, Fox is probably the least biased network news service, the ones who should loose their license are CNN, MSNBC and the major networks. This is a political hack job by a far left mentally disables group. There was massive election fraud but the far left leaning media refuses to do their job and report the truth. This is just another attempt to censor free speech which is a right everyone has especially the press. If the FCC refuses the license then they are complicit in censoring conservative voices like the corrupt biden administration colluding with social media outlets who were the actual misinformation disinformation sources covering the lies told by fauci, cdc, fda, biden and democrats party.

It looks like Biden and the democrats are at it again. They are going after the only news organization that broadcasts the truth. The only one that the people can trust to present the people with facts and not the opinion and the bias of the Democratic party and Joe Biden and his cronies. If they succeed in revoking Fox’s FCC license, that will take away the peoples only source of true newscasts. All of the other mainstream news sources only broadcast one sided opinions that don’t necessarily align with the opinions of the general public.

Fox should stay on the air. Channel tells truth about things Dems are trying to hide and squash. Politics has taken over so many businesses and it is getting more and more like a communist country with Biden and people behind him pulling the strings trying to take over our lives. Telling us what we can and can’t do but let crime go ramped and illegals taking over cities. This country is a dam mess and worst condition in my 70+ years. STOP LETTING DEMOCRATS RULE THIS COUNTRY INTO COMMUNISM.

Okay. Let me get this straight. If a television network in Philadelphia broadcasts a story stating that everyone in the city needs to go to the top of city hall at a certain time and jump off in order to save the planet from global warming, is that misinformation? We know the woke, greenie, snowflakes who are protesting against Fox will do it because they’ll do anything for the global warming scam.

When we hear read, happen to be listening to anybody who mentions “election disinformation,” my alarms immediately go off – OF COURSE there is “election disinformation,” mainly that which still says criminal Biden and his criminal cohorts “won” the 2020 election fairly and squarely. Ha! IF Fox goes, someone needs to take their place with the TRUTH, on matters of the 2020 election, Jan. 6th, the deeply criminal actions of the Biden family, the radical/communist Lefty Democrats and their plans for America, which, btw, NONE of us true Americans want – all of it. Have some issues with Fox myself (mostly how they handled Tucker Carlson) but know that otherwise, there will be NO media that even tells half of the truth.

1st Amendment… They cannot allow a small special interest group to dictate what can and cannot be aired… Commie News Network and MSDNC are constantly selling false and misleading information using “provable” altered video and heavily edited story lines while their presenters’ try to stoke the flames of racial discontent, but they are all favorable to the far-left crowd so they’re safe…

Pennsylvania is home to the most criminal Democrats in the country along with California, Illinois and New York. They elect stroke bound vegetables to office and then try to accuse Fox of misinformation. What a joke. Their state lied about cheating and they changed voting rules illegally. Talk about unethical it is no wonder Biden goes there so often…they are all brain dead.

What ever happened to FREEDOM OF THE PRESS?
Amendment #1 to the Constitution Of The United States Of America. Notice I said #1. It must have been pretty darned important to the framers of the document.
Amendment 1:
Congress shall make no law representing an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the exercise thereof;
or abridging the FREEDOM OF SPEECH, OR OF THE PRESS; or the RIGHT of the people to peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Although I vehemently disagree with Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch’s decision to fire Tucker Carlson, and their problems with the Dominion voting system, they should in no way be denied a TV License renewal.
Just my humble opinion.

Control the message no matter what. This is so clearly a political ‘assassination’ of an opponent that you would have expected it to occur in some African dump.
It will be getting sporty here in November 2024.

Looks like we’re gonna need firings at the FCC when the GOP takes over in 2025. They are outing themselves and putting their names on the firing line. For that reason alone, they will not stop FOX from renewing their license. They would have to deny ALL the leftist whiney hack networks if they do that to FOX, and the Supreme Court will remind them that you can’t eff with the 1st Amendment because you don’t like the other guys version of the news.

I have to laugh at this. The mainstream media pushed a false narrative for 4 years.Russia twenty four hours a day. It has been disproven, yet narry a word on the lies they told. And now we find out about all the strings that have been pulled for Hunter Biden. What a joke!

Well it seems that curbing the possible opposition news channel would fit right with the banana republic that we seem to be heading for.
Does anyone with a half of a brain think that CNN and
MSNBC aren’t broadcasting misinformation about everything that doesn’t fit in their agenda.
Just saying!

It is about time that the FCC stood up and shouldered its responsibilities. I am referring to the requirement that the FCC consider a stations track record of programming when considering renewal of a stations license. The license is for the recipient to broadcast items of informational issues for the general public, not podcasts of political party agenda’s. If a station does not uphold it commitment to general information, they it does not merit renewal.

If fox is denied, then ALL other main stream media should be denied. The damnocraps are more guilty of spreading FAKE news 24/7. Any way, 230 protects ALL outlets

All news outlets should draw a bold line between fact and opinion. Reporting facts is news. Giving opinions, such as in editorials and most talk shows, is entertainment not news.

If Fox News is denied a license then we are all in deep trouble. They are of course the only network that actually tells the truth about the imminent destruction of our country by Biden and his puppeteers. The sad thing is that Fox newscasters are basically “preaching to the choir”. I have many friends and even family members who I know are good and decent people and would not be Democrat supporters if they really knew what is happening. They don’t know because they don’t watch Fox News. Very sad for my children and grandchildren if Biden or some other low life gets elected again. If Trump is indeed the nominee, I hope all the otherwise conservative, Trump haters that didn’t vote for him in 2020, have learned their lesson. They may not like the man or his personality, but it’s hard to argue with what he did and was continuing to do for the country. People better put aside their dislike of Trump for whatever reasons, if they don’t want the country to continue on the perilous path it is currently on.
