January 1, Find a Dollar on the Ground? Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Pick It Up

Tennessee police are warning the public against picking up folded dollar bills found on the ground after multiple reports of people finding a dangerous substance inside.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office said that twice now, someone found a folded dollar bill on the floor of a local gas station with a “white powdery substance” inside. Testing confirmed that the substance was positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.
“This is very dangerous, folks!” the sheriff’s office said in a statement posted to Facebook. “Please share and educate your children to not pick up the money.”
The sheriff’s office said it plans to push for legislation “that would intensify the punishment, if someone is caught using money as a carrying pouch for such poison.”
“It enrages me as a father and the Sheriff, that people can act so carelessly and have no regard for others well being, especially a child. I hope we find the ones responsible.”
