  • DOJ arrests 10, targeting violence against officers
  • Two charged for chaos at California ICE protest
  • Penalties reach up to eight years prison

The Department of Justice says ten people have been arrested for violence against law enforcement, with more facing charges. These arrests follow wild anti-ICE protests in California, where agents faced resistance during efforts to enforce immigration law.

According to officials, two of those arrested—Virginia Reyes and Isai Carrillo from Oxnard—are charged with trying to harm federal officers. Their charges come from a July 10 operation at Glass House Farms in Camarillo, where protestors, some linked to “VC Defensa,” blocked exits with farm equipment and chased agents around the property.

“There is zero tolerance for violence against law enforcement officers,” said Acting United States Attorney Bill Essayli.

During the operation, protestors allegedly set up a roadblock and damaged four government vehicles while a federal contractor suffered injuries from thrown rocks.

Authorities say Reyes is a fugitive, while Carrillo and others took part in assaults and creating chokepoints during the raid. The suspects face charges like conspiracy to injure a federal officer and civil disorder.

The DOJ also named nine other suspects tied to a violent June 8 protest targeting California Highway Patrol. During that demonstration, crowds blocked a main highway, threw dangerous objects, and set fire to police vehicles.

Another suspect, Yovany Marcario Canil, is accused of pepper-spraying a vehicle filled with FBI SWAT members during a June 6 protest, causing injuries to agents inside.

If convicted, these twelve face between five and eight years in federal prison.

I wonder when President Trump will do something about all the train robberies that occur daily in California. They costs the railroads millions of dollars every year. Governor Gavin Newsome isn’t going to take control of the situation. I always thought the railroads were federally controlled.
