FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Friday that federal agents have arrested a judge in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. This judge is accused of helping an illegal immigrant from Mexico escape from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
Here’s what happened: ICE agents went to a Milwaukee County Courthouse to arrest a Mexican citizen right after a hearing with Judge Hannah Dugan. But instead of handing over the immigrant, Judge Dugan told the ICE agents to wait in another office and let the immigrant leave through a side door. Lucky for us, the agents chased him down and caught him, but what the judge did put people at risk.
Kash Patel explained that Judge Dugan purposely misled the agents to help Eduardo Flores Ruiz, an illegal immigrant, avoid arrest. Even though Patel took down his first message, he put it right back up to make sure people knew what happened.
The FBI says it will share more details soon, and they are grateful to the Milwaukee field office for arresting the judge.
Attorney General Pam Bondi also shared that Judge Dugan was arrested, saying, “No one is above the law.” She made it clear that helping an illegal alien dodge ICE is serious business.
There seems to be some confusion, though. Chief Judge Carl Ashley said that the ICE agents had a warrant, but Judge Dugan claims she never saw one. ICE agents have been visiting this courthouse a lot lately, and they’ve arrested a couple of other illegal immigrants there in the last few months.
This isn’t the first time something like this happened. Back when Trump was president, a Massachusetts judge got in trouble for helping an illegal immigrant escape ICE. Those charges got dropped later, but the judge had to face possible disciplinary actions.
What’s important here is that our laws matter, and everyone should follow them, even judges. Our safety depends on it!
Wyatt Matters!
In our community, laws are made to keep everyone safe, and it’s important that all people respect them. When a judge, who is supposed to uphold the law, helps someone break it, it creates chaos and danger. Judges should set a good example by following the rules themselves. If they don’t, it sends the wrong message, showing that not everyone has to play by the same rules.
It’s troubling when someone uses their position to help others escape from the law, like what happened in Milwaukee County. This kind of behavior is risky, as it might encourage more people to think it’s okay to break the law. It can also make it harder for law enforcement officers to do their jobs, putting them and others around them in danger. If people start to think they can get away with not following the law, it can lead to even bigger problems for our communities.
We should remember that laws are here to protect us, and everyone is responsible for following them, no matter who they are. When people in powerful positions, like judges, choose not to follow the rules, it undermines the trust we have in our systems. Keeping our community safe needs everyone to work together and respect the laws in place, ensuring that nobody is above the law.
