January 1, Event for LGBTQ Youth Includes Drag Show at a Church
A nonprofit in Naples, Florida, is hosting an event for LGBTQ youth that will include a drag show at a church.
GLSEN Collier is hosting the first-ever Youth Pride Conference at Naples United Church of Christ (UCC) on May 21 “for LGBTQ youth seeking to explore LGBTQ-related issues they face today,” according to the event’s page.
Individuals aged 12 to 18 are invited to attend the event, which includes free breakfast and lunch, “as well as a drag show from some of our local drag queens.”
The Youth Pride Conference will also feature discussions on such topics as mental health, gender dysphoria, “forbidden queer literature,” “inclusive sex education,” “intersectionality and prejudices within the community,” and “political action and advocacy.”
According to Fox News, a sign-up form requires attendees to acknowledge that the event is not affiliated with Naples UCC or Collier County Public Schools.
