A woman in Detroit was shocked to find a six-foot alligator inside her late son’s bedroom just days after his funeral. Animal rescuer Mark Rosenthal said the operation to remove the reptile lasted about half an hour.

Rosenthal explained, “I used the sweatshirt again, put it over its head, and just grabbed it by the tail and lifted it by the tail until it was balanced at the top. Then I got off the milk crate, got him down, and then put him in the container you’ll see here in a minute.”

The gator, called ‘Navi the Gator,’ had been living in a glass tank barely bigger than itself with no heat, food, or water. It was scared and aggressive when the team arrived.

Though Michigan doesn’t ban alligators statewide, Detroit forbids them as pets. Rosenthal warned that keeping wild animals in homes is never truly safe or right.

“I don’t care what you have if you can give it a full life. You’re never going to give an alligator a full life because they get huge, and where are you going to keep it?”

The alligator will soon be sent to a large Florida sanctuary where it can live in proper conditions.

If you think animal regulations are strict now, this story might make you think twice about who brings what into your neighborhood.

It is surprising what you find if you don’t regularly clean even the bedrooms of your housemates.

I guess it wasn’t the bite from the alligator that killed her son?
Having an alligator as a pet is NOT normal. A dog, a cat, a goldfish, those little turtles that begin to smell when you don’t clean their habitat, hell, a rabbit or even an exotic bird? But all require some responsibilty.
How many more children does this mom have? Do they have rattlesnakes, a bull, an aquarium full of Black Widow spiders in it for pets?
How many children are being raised today, not knowing what’s best for them? Right from wrong? Do parents even know who their children are? What their beliefs are or what they stand for?

A very succinct statement about the all too common condition of parenting in the USA today.

My personal opinion having grown up in Florida and being around alligators is that this is a BS story. You’re not gonna hide a gator that size in a bedroom without anyone knowing.
