January 1, Democrats Ignore Majority, Double Down on Shutdown

Wyatt’s Take

  • Democrats refuse to compromise, even when most Americans disagree with them.
  • The shutdown is dragging on because Democrats want health care for illegal immigrants.
  • Polling shows Americans want stricter border enforcement, but Democrats push back anyway.

Democratic leaders are refusing to negotiate or change course, no matter how unpopular their plans might be. Instead of trying to bring voters around, they are set in their ways and determined to push their agenda by any means.

There’s a pattern here: Democrats seem to care less about winning people over and more about forcing through policies that suit their interests. Ordinary folks’ opinions seem to be an afterthought, even as Democrats force a government shutdown over things like health care for illegal immigrants.

Recent polling shows the vast majority of Americans oppose the shutdown and want Senate Democrats to accept the spending bill passed by the House. But since that bill doesn’t include subsidies for certain illegal immigrants, Democrats would rather keep the government closed.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claims their case gets “better and better” each day the shutdown continues. But the data shows most people disagree: 70% of Americans oppose the shutdown and 65% want Democrats to accept the spending bill.

On immigration, the numbers are even starker. A Harvard CAPS-Harris poll finds most Americans, including a majority of Democrats, back deporting illegal immigrants who commit crimes. Even more support using the military to help secure the border and keep order in cities.

The Democrats ignore these popular opinions. Instead, they’re setting up ICE-free zones, giving breaks to illegal immigrants, and calling policies most Americans support “authoritarian.” They act like they know better than the people, expecting everyone to fall in line with their plans.

Instead of listening to what everyday Americans want, the left is more interested in pushing their ideas—even if that means ignoring voters, blocking debate, or dragging out fights like this government shutdown. That’s not the way democracy is supposed to work.

If regular folks don’t push back, the political class will keep moving further away from the needs of Middle America.

Wyatt Matters

Out here in the heartland, folks expect leaders to listen and compromise, not strong-arm their own vision. Ordinary Americans know what’s best for their towns and families, and it’s time Washington remembers who they’re supposed to serve.

What evidence have you that the Democrats want to expand health care to undocumented immigrants which currently is illegal except ER care which Reagan signed into law that ERs have to handle emergency care?

Wyatt you drink the Kool-Aid and listen to too much Fox News. Democrats want healthcare for their constituents. Medicaid and Medicare are crucial. Why doesn’t the Republicans understand that one missed paycheck is enough to ruin people. Rents are sky high but wages don’t budge. Everything is still so expensive and now Republicans want to make our healthcare premiums out of reach for the majority of Americans. Illegals can’t get these things why does that not sink in? And no you are wrong, the majority of the people of America want affordable health Care. It’s life or death. What makes you think that’s not important to every American?

Where are you getting the information about people wanting the military to come into their city to help “keep order” in them?

I read where citizens post comments about such and many of them welcome any protection that they can get. Why would not anyone, except the criminals and their ilk? A city run by mafia obviously will not.
