Wyatt’s Take

  • Abdul El-Sayed defended campaigning with Hasan Piker.
  • He declined to disavow Piker’s controversial past comments.
  • The move reflects Democrats’ ongoing tension with independent media.

Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is choosing sides, and he is picking a radical streamer over common-sense Americans. El-Sayed defended his decision to campaign with Hasan Piker, a man known for anti-American rhetoric.

The Democrat candidate refused to distance himself from Piker’s past statements, which include claims that America deserved the 9/11 attacks.

Instead of addressing the controversy, El-Sayed took a swipe at Joe Rogan and the idea of platform policing.

“I’m not here to disavow people’s views,” El-Sayed said.

“I thought we were over it. I thought that we lived through the whole discourse of ‘should have gone on Rogan,’ and there’s a lot that I would look at, but Rogan said that I’d disavow, and I’d still go on his show.”

Political analysts suggest the shift toward streamers like Piker is an attempt to court younger voters while avoiding the tough questions often found on Rogan’s massive platform.

This move comes after critics blamed Kamala Harris’s 2024 loss on her refusal to engage with independent podcasters.

Piker has faced intense backlash for downplaying the October 7 attacks on Israel, yet El-Sayed continues to normalize him on college campuses.

This alliance signals a growing divide as the Democratic party struggles to balance its radical base with the concerns of hardworking citizens.

Wyatt Matters

Middle Americans believe in respect for our country and its history. When a candidate chooses to stand with someone who insults our nation rather than engaging with common-sense platforms, it shows exactly where their loyalties lie.
