January 1, De Niro Blasts Trump as Danger, Boosts Biden-Harris Campaign Amid Manhattan Trial

Robert De Niro criticized former President Trump as a “danger” to Americans during a press conference in New York City on Tuesday. The actor stated, “I hope this new ad campaign reaches outside the bubble to remind supporters of what a danger he is to our lives. This is not a threat. This is our reality.”

De Niro joined the Biden-Harris campaign, expressing his support for Joe Biden as the only way to preserve our freedoms and hold on to our humanity. The event took place outside the Manhattan courtroom where Trump is facing trial, but President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were not present.

De Niro was accompanied by the Biden campaign’s communications director, Michael Tyler, and two police officers who were present at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Tyler referred to Trump as a “chaos agent” and emphasized the threat he poses to democracy and the economy.

During the press conference, De Niro accused Trump of wanting to destroy not only New York City but also the entire country. He even claimed that “eventually he could destroy the world.” The actor went on to say that Trump does not belong in New York City, a sentiment he has expressed in the past.

De Niro recently lent his voice to a Biden-Harris campaign ad, calling Trump “out of control” and “threatening to be a ‘dictator’ to terminate the constitution.”

Trump is currently on trial in Manhattan for 34 counts of falsifying business records. Prosecutors are trying to prove that he concealed a $130,000 payment to former pornographic star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election in an attempt to silence her claims of an alleged affair with him in 2006.

Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller responded to De Niro’s comments, calling him a “washed up actor.” Meanwhile, Trump stated that the trial marks a “dangerous day for America” and accused President Biden of destroying the country.
