January 1, Cuomo’s dog left behind at mansion after the governor moved out
Soon-to-be former Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked his staff at the Executive Mansion if anyone would like to keep his dog, Captain, who was left behind after he moved out last week.
Captain, who Cuomo adopted in 2018, is a high-strung shepherd, Siberian, and malamute mix. A staffer recently took the dog home for a few days but decided he was too much, State Police sources confirm.
Richard Azzopardi, a senior adviser and spokesman for the governor, vehemently denied the allegation that Cuomo is looking for someone to take his dog. The arrangement is only “temporary” because the governor is planning to take a vacation.
Cuomo’s resignation took effect at 11:59 p.m. on Monday.
