Wyatt’s Take

  • The House Oversight Committee is pushing the Clintons to testify in person about Jeffrey Epstein.
  • Chairman Comer warns the Clintons could face contempt if they ignore the subpoenas.
  • New laws require more Epstein files to become public.

House Oversight Chairman James Comer wants Bill and Hillary Clinton to appear for a deposition in the Epstein investigation. Their lawyer suggested written answers instead, but Comer said that won’t cut it.

“Given their history with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, any attempt by the Clintons to avoid sitting for a deposition would be in defiance of lawful subpoenas and grounds to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings,” Comer said.

The committee says it seeks accountability for Epstein’s victims and the American people. Comer scheduled Bill Clinton for Dec. 17 and Hillary Clinton for Dec. 18.

The Clintons’ lawyer argued they have little to add and could answer questions on paper.

“The public’s demand for transparency from its government about their criminality is both understandable and warranted,” Kendall wrote. “Former President Clinton and former Secretary Clinton welcome legitimate oversight in this matter that is grounded in fact.”

Comer insists future delays will be seen as ignoring Congress. Meanwhile, President Trump signed a law that forces the Justice Department to release all unclassified Epstein records, including files on Ghislaine Maxwell and others named in past cases.

Recently released documents mention Bill Clinton but claim he never visited Epstein’s island. There are no accusations of wrongdoing for Clinton, but these new releases keep the pressure on for answers.

The back-and-forth over subpoenas and transparency laws shows lawmakers are feeling the heat to get real answers for the country.
