January 1, California Pushes Back GOP Seat Special Election
Wyatt’s Take
- Governor schedules special election for latest date allowed.
- House GOP loses another vote for months.
- Working Americans left waiting for real representation.
California Governor Gavin Newsom picked the latest possible date for a special election to fill the seat left by Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa.
The vote is set for August 4, so the winner serves only a short time before the term ends in November.
Republicans have only a slim majority in the House, and missing LaMalfa’s seat makes it even tougher for them to get their bills passed.
LaMalfa, from Northern California, was known for caring about farming and logging issues important to the region.
He passed away earlier this year at age 65.
If you believe rural voices should never go unheard in Congress, now’s the time to pay attention to what’s happening in California.
Wyatt Matters
Delaying the special election leaves people in the district without a say. Middle Americans know how important it is to have someone fighting for their jobs and values, no matter how long is left on the clock.
