January 1, Brad Raffensperger Sets Sights on Georgia Governor
Wyatt’s Take
- Raffensperger jumps into the 2026 governor’s race
- Pledges a tough conservative agenda if elected
- Faces strong rivals from both parties
Buckle up, Georgia’s governor race just got heated with Republican Brad Raffensperger throwing his hat in the ring. He’s promising to lead with backbone and a steady hand if voters put him in charge.
“I’m a conservative Republican, and I’m prepared to make the tough decisions. I follow the law and the Constitution, and I’ll always do the right thing for Georgia no matter what,” he said in his campaign launch video.
His plan is to scrap the state income tax, put a cap on property taxes for seniors, ban puberty blockers for kids, and wipe out left-wing teaching in schools. He also wants more jobs, kick out criminal illegal immigrants, and restore order to Georgia’s streets.
He’s run statewide before, winning reelection as secretary of state even after President Trump backed a different Republican. This time he faces hurdles because the Georgia GOP tried to kick him off their ticket, though that might not stick.
The Republican field is crowded, too, with Burt Jones—backed by Trump—and others challenging for the nomination. Democrats have a list of hopefuls including a former Atlanta mayor and state senator. In a twist, Geoff Duncan switched parties and is running as a Democrat, after siding with Raffensperger over the 2020 results.
The race is wide open, but one thing’s clear: Georgia voters are in for a no-nonsense contest over who sets the state’s direction next.
If you care about the future of Georgia and the principles that hold communities together, you’ll want to keep a close watch as these candidates try to win your trust.
Wyatt Matters
Georgians want leaders who fix problems, defend communities, and don’t back down under pressure. This election will shape how families and businesses in the heartland are represented for years to come.
