January 1, Biden Approval Rating Hits Historic Low
A new poll shows President Joe Biden’s approval rating has hit a historic low as he wraps up his first year in office.
According to an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, only 41% of Americans say they approve of Biden’s job as president — the lowest recorded approval rating of his term.
The poll data comes amid a surge in coronavirus cases, the end of several popular pandemic-era programs, and rising consumer prices. The U.S. is experiencing the highest inflation levels in 30 years.
Among Republicans, Biden’s approval rating sits at just 5%. Only 29% of independents approve, compared to 88% of Democrats.
The president has also failed to pass his Build Back Better plan, which the administration had hoped would be part of his legacy.
The survey was conducted between December 11 and 13 with 1,400 adult participants.
