  • Drug batches may contain deadly fentanyl.
  • Law enforcement vows to keep traffickers accountable.

Arizona’s top law enforcer is sounding the alarm: drug dealers are selling fruit-flavored cocaine to kids and young women, trying to make dangerous drugs look more like candy and less like a threat.

These sugary flavors—piña colada, strawberry, coconut, and banana—are emerging in Arizona’s illegal drug market. Packs could be hiding a silent killer, as many contain deadly fentanyl mixed in.

“We want everyone to stay safe and avoid the harms that come from using illegal drugs,” Mayes warned in a consumer alert.

Law enforcement caught a local dealer offering these “candy” batches on social media. Authorities say he aimed his products at younger customers, making them easier targets for addiction and overdose.

This dealer, sentenced for trying to sell flavored cocaine, has been sent to prison and fined heavily. Police say these tactics are part of a push by traffickers to lure in a new generation with sweet-tasting danger.

“My office will continue to hold accountable those illegally trafficking and selling drugs in our communities,” said Mayes.

Arizona officials remind families: anything bought on the street or online could have fentanyl and prove deadly.
