Alec Baldwin fires prop gun on set, killing 1, injuring another
Actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on a film set, killing one crew member and injuring another.
Halyna Hutchins, director of photography on “Rust” and director Joel Souza were shot Thursday during production in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation,” Baldwin tweeted. “My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
A spokesperson for Baldwin said a prop gun filled with blanks misfired. The circumstances around the gun’s firing weren’t immediately apparent.
“This investigation remains open and active,” said Juan Rios, Santa Fe County sheriff’s spokesman.
