Tech experts and teachers are pushing students to use AI, claiming it’s the future. They say writing the right prompts is a skill, but real education means more than telling a robot what to do.

AI may make life easier, but it risks stripping away the chance for kids to think and grow. Relying on machines for writing and editing takes the struggle—and the reward—out of learning.

“Strong writing is strong thinking.”

MIT researchers found that using AI actually weakens critical thinking. Still, some argue that mastering AI prompts is the key to getting ahead in the job market—forgetting that no tool can replace common sense and hard work learned the old-fashioned way.

Letting students use AI to review their work removes human connection and robs them of the skills that make face-to-face feedback and growth happen. The habit of real editing and real feedback is what sets kids up for success, not just pushing buttons.

Some say AI is here to stay, but old-school methods like handwritten assignments cut down on cheating and force students to think for themselves. Developing real talent and grit is what God intended for us—not letting machines do it all.
