January 1, Abortions Surge Despite Supreme Court Move
Wyatt’s Take
- Abortions are still increasing, even after the Dobbs ruling.
- Pills sent by mail drive numbers higher in pro-life states.
- Many want stronger action from the Trump administration.
Even after the Supreme Court moved abortion rules back to the states, the number of abortions rose in the first half of 2025.
Pro-abortion groups say about 98,630 babies were aborted each month through June 2025, up from 95,250 a month in 2024.
In 2023, there were about 88,180 each month, and in 2022, around 79,620.
Twenty-seven percent of abortions in early 2025 happened through telehealth, using abortion pills mailed out by doctors.
Many mail-order pills were sent into states like Texas and Louisiana, where pro-life laws try to block abortion drugs.
Louisiana saw 7,530 medicated abortions in 2024, up from 2,480 in 2023. Texas had an estimated 35,870 medicated abortions in 2024, up from 12,420 the year before.
The second-half numbers for 2025 have not been released yet.
Many pro-life advocates are frustrated that the Trump administration has not stopped mail-order abortion drugs.
“It’s hard to understand how on Earth the FDA has left this rule in place,” said Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. “Mail-order abortion drugs don’t just undermine state laws, they cost babies’ lives & send women to the ER.”
“Abortions are continuing, even rising, because of this rule,” they added.

This story shows lawmakers and courts alone can’t solve big moral problems. It’s up to folks in Middle America to keep their values alive at home, no matter what Washington or the courts do.
