January 1, 9/11 Masterminds Dodge Death Penalty in Controversial Plea Deal, Sparking Outrage

News quickly spread that the three terrorists alleged to have been the masterminds behind the horrific Sept. 11 terror attacks will escape the full measure of justice, thanks to a plea deal secured with prosecutors.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammad, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi, who were held accountable for the dreadful crime in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, reached this deal with Susan Escallier, the Convening Authority for Military Commissions, and the Department of Defense (DOD).

These three men stand accused of providing training, financial support, and other resources to the 19 terrorists who weaponized passenger jets, ending nearly 3,000 innocent lives in a catastrophic swoop at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on that fateful day of Sept. 11, 2001.

This development was met with a wave of outrage and disillusionment from the loved ones of the victims. “I am deeply disappointed. We waited patiently for a long time. I wanted the death penalty; the government has failed us,” rued Daniel D’Allara, whose twin brother, John, an NYPD officer, was one of the casualties of the attacks.

Similiar sentiments were echoed by Jim Smith, a retired police officer and husband to the only female police officer – Moira Smith – who perished on 9/11. “I feel like I was brutally violated,” he expressed in an anguished retort to the news, continuing, “The prosecution and families have waited for 23 years to have our day in court to reveal the monstrous atrocities these brutes inflicted on our loved ones.”

In response, many lawmakers and public officials expressed their stern condemnation of the Biden administration for allowing this plea deal.

Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, branded the plea deal as a “disgrace,” laying the blame squarely at the feet of the Biden administration. He bemoaned, “Anything short of their execution is a gross miscarriage of justice. This administration continuously illustrates its spinelessness towards our adversaries.”

Ohio Senator JD Vance, former President Trump’s running mate in the most recent presidential cycle, harshly criticized the plea deal in an address to supporters. “We need a president who eliminates terrorists, not negotiates with them,” he proclaimed.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S. C., rightly pointed out that the three defendants have the blood of innocent Americans on their hands. “Yet, they’ve somehow been allowed to avoid the death penalty. This administration’s apparent concessions, from the disastrous retreat from Afghanistan to incoherent border policies and emboldening Iran, have made them a dream team for terrorists and rogue states like Iran.”

Echoing the views of the people, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., called the deal a “slap in the face” to the relatives of 9/11 victims. “For over two decades, the families of those massacred by these terrorists have awaited justice. This plea deal is a deplorable insult to those families. They deserved so much better from the Biden-Harris Administration.”

Why are these evil people still alive? They should have been put to death years ago.

That is dreadful. How could she ever do such a thing. No plea deal. They should already be dead. 23 years of life that 3000 people did not get. I did read where Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III took it away from her and has put the death penalty back on the table. At this rate the killers may die of old age. They don’t want to die but their were willing to send their own people to death to kill our people. Speedy trail then firing squad.

You are horribly behind. This plea deal was rescinded days ago.

Susan Escallier should be tried, convicted and executed for treason.
