Wyatt’s Take

  • CMS is pushing Medicare Advantage plans to focus on health, not just sickness.
  • Dr. Oz wants doctors to be rewarded for talking food, not just giving pills.
  • Some Republicans want to cut these plans, but seniors need the help.

Medicare needs more than pills and surgeries; it needs to keep folks healthy before trouble starts. CMS and Dr. Oz are moving to reward doctors who talk to patients about good food and whole-body health.

“Food is medicine and can be the ultimate preventive tool if used correctly.”

Washington has long paid more for fixing bad problems than stopping them in the first place. Medicare Advantage plans, used by millions of seniors, can cover healthy food, gym memberships, and ride help. They are now a proven lifeline that gives seniors real support, instead of being stuck with only medical bills.

Dr. Oz is counting on these plans to fight chronic diseases like diabetes. He says doctors need to be backed when they help patients eat better, and he’s right. “He knows that when a senior has access to healthy food, blood pressure drops, hospital admissions decrease, and quality of life improves.”

Some voices in the GOP keep trying to roll back Medicare Advantage flexibilities, but that just hurts folks trying to stay out of hospitals. If we want America to get healthier, we need to stick with what works and ensure these plans survive. “We must support the only part of Medicare that can pay for groceries instead of just insulin.”

Healthy aging isn’t just about care when you’re sick. It’s about keeping people strong at home, out of hospitals, and in their communities. That’s what keeps costs down and lives fuller. “Flexibility and Medicare Advantage is built for the 21st.”
