In a tense moment of law enforcement vigilance, the US Capitol Police detained an armed individual in close proximity to the Capitol this Tuesday.

A communiqué from the Capitol Police announced that they had neutralized the potential threat, with the assurance that the area was secure and promising further updates soon.

Taking no chances, officers are meticulously examining the suspect’s possessions, as reported in their statement highlighting the need for utmost caution.

Footage circulating online depicts a significant deployment of police resources at the scene of the arrest.

It was during a routine surveillance that Capitol Police officers identified the man openly carrying a “long gun” by Delaware Avenue NE, not far from the bustle of Union Station, WRC-TV detailed.

Failing to heed police orders to relinquish his firearm, the individual was subsequently subdued with a taser. The weapon in question was identified by an officer on the scene as “an AR-15,” heightening the gravity of the encounter.

Why It Matters

Once again, the efficiency and preparedness of the police have demonstrated that the thin blue line remains resolute.

Their swift intervention near Union Station, apprehending a man armed with an AR-15, underscores the constancy of the threat law enforcement officers face daily.

This wasn’t a scene from some distant battlefield; it unfolded within the heart of our Republic, where the specter of violence demands eternal vigilance.

The liberal media may spin tales of alarm, but let’s be clear: this is about heroes in uniform keeping us safe, not about gun policy reform.

The Capitol Police did not flinch. They confronted danger, ensuring that Tuesday was not a day of tragedy.

While the left perpetually stigmatizes lawful gun ownership, this incident should remind us of the paramount importance of supporting our police.

They are the bulwark between civilization and chaos, and they deserve nothing less than our unwavering respect and support.

Now, it’s not the fire arms fault. The AR-15 didn’t arrive near Union Station by itself, it had help. A dirrainged man brought the fire arm, so before blaming guns for the problem, examine those who have them!

Ahmir Lavon Merrel, a registered GA sex offender, was arrested in DC carrying a “LONG Gun”, as if blacks with dreadlocks don’t use AR-15 style weapons?

Also, why post a photo of a white man with cuffs on since a photo of Amir in police custody, thankfully, had already been posted?

Let’s not get politically correct about this. Men and women of all races, ages, and political persuasions use rifles to commit crimes and are also registered sex offenders.

This Veterans’ Day let’s realize that our police officers face as much danger as our military veterans do. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

This certainly IS about gun control. I am not minimizing the role police played in this dangerous situation but there is no reason why an AR15 gun is not banned. How would the police defend themselves against such a weapon if this individual had opened fire? Police having to confront such individuals is more reason why they should be commended.

How would the police defend themselves (and others) against an individual that drives their truck onto the sidewalk and mows down pedestrians? There is no good reason why cars and trucks should not be banned!

My wife’s AR-15 never leaves the house. It is what levels the field between her and a large intruder or two. It has never once attacked anyone, nor has it ever even pointed itself at a person.

What was not included in the article, though the man did not give up his weapon, he did not point it at them. Otherwise, he would have been killed and not tased. He demonstrated real “gun control” by not pointing his weapon at anyone.

Yeah he had an evil black gun! Better if he had been found with a bomb or was in a car doing 100mph right? 🙄

You should really keep your lame opinions to yourself there Linda. As to how the police would combat that situation had the gunman started firing. Simple. They have the same weapon in their trunks, plus a shotgun, plus the fact they’re wearing bulletproof vests. Please educate yourself.

I thought the constitution allowed us to keep and bear arms. What was he doing that was wrong. What were the Capital police doing at Union Station instead of protecting Nancy at the Capital.

If he was American he has every right to bear arms.
