January 1, Netflix Faces Subscriber Exodus After Reed Hastings Endorses Kamala Harris
Netflix has faced a massive wave of cancellations after co-founder and executive chairman Reed Hastings publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in July.
According to Bloomberg News, cancellations tripled following Hastings’ announcement and his staggering $7 million donation to a super PAC supporting Harris’ campaign.
Hastings, in his exuberance, said in an interview, “After the depressing debate, we are in the game again,” and later took to X to proclaim, “Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win.”
Subscribers had already started to abandon Netflix in droves in July when the streaming giant scrapped its lowest-tier subscription package. However, the situation escalated dramatically the week after Hastings’ endorsement, with cancellations reaching unprecedented levels, even for the summer months, as noted in the report.
Following the endorsement and donation announcement, conservatives responded by driving the hashtag #CancelNetflix to trend on social media for several days.
This isn’t the first time Hastings has shown his true colors. The Democrat megadonor was one of the loudest voices on the Left urging President Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race after his lackluster debate performance against former President Donald Trump in late June.
“Biden needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous,” he told The New York Times.
Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, have increasingly funneled their wealth to Democratic causes in recent years, contributing over $20 million in their fervent opposition to Trump. While they handed over at least $1.6 million to support Biden, the bulk of their donations boosted Democrats in House and Senate races.
Moreover, the pair has funneled millions into efforts to thwart the recall of far-left California Governor Gavin Newsom and San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin.
It’s clear that Hastings prioritizes his political agenda over the values of a significant portion of Netflix’s customer base. Conservatives nationwide are making their voices heard by canceling their subscriptions, hitting the streaming giant where it hurts – its bottom line.

Netflix will do fine! It is a great product and women, people of color, non-racist, people who believe in the constitution, will remain with Netflix. We want are leaders to know right from wrong and understand that Tump is bad for the country, in so many ways and is a threat to our existence-we will not go back. Morality, sanity, integrity, is important to decent Americans. God save America.
