January 1, George Clooney: There Aren’t ‘Enough Drugs in the World’ For Him To Reprise This Role
George Clooney recently made a surprise cameo in “The Flash,” briefly appearing as Batman’s alter ego, Bruce Wayne. However, Clooney says this reprisal will not be happening again.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he joked about the massive interest in his return as Batman, saying, “Well, I thought there was such a clamor for me to come back as Batman, as you know.”
When asked if he would ever fully reprise the role, Clooney was adamant that his superhero days were behind him.
“I don’t think there’s enough drugs in the world for me to go back,” he quipped.
Clooney starred as the hero in the 1997 film “Batman & Robin,” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze. The Warner Bros. film was ridiculed by critics, and Clooney frequently jokes about its reputation. In 2019, he even warned his friend Ben Affleck not to take on the Batman role in the 2016 film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Two years ago, Clooney admitted he had not been asked to reprise his role in “The Flash,” which features the same superheroes uniting in the multiverse. “They didn’t ask me,” he previously told Variety. “When you destroy a franchise the way I did, usually they look the other way.”
Clooney also revealed that his wife, Amal, is not allowed to watch “Batman & Robin.”
He joked, “There are certain films I just go, ‘I want my wife to have some respect for me.’”
Additionally, he suggested that his twins, Alexander and Ella, would not be watching the film anytime soon.
“It’s bad when your 4-year-old kid goes, ‘This sucks,’” Clooney said.
Why It Matters (op-ed)
George Clooney’s candid remarks regarding his Batman past highlight the importance of learning from our mistakes and moving forward. Clooney’s self-deprecating humor demonstrates that even the most successful individuals can acknowledge their missteps and accept the consequences.
Furthermore, Clooney’s decision to not reprise the role shows the significance of knowing when to let go and not dwell on past failures. By focusing on his current accomplishments and projects, Clooney exemplifies the resilience necessary to thrive in the entertainment industry.

Funny how self-righteous you get after you’ve make millions of dollars off the public. Used to love his good looks, but now I just see another wealthy Hollywood phony.

I actually respect George Clooney for his self depreciation. The face that he can joke about it -and make himself the butt of the joke- is both refreshing and relatable. Makes me like him for it. But no, I will never ever watch that stupid movie again.
