Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just delivered what might be her most historically ignorant statement yet, and that’s saying something for a congresswoman who’s made a career out of lecturing Americans while mangling basic facts.

The New York Democrat claimed during a recent appearance that Black Americans “really created democracy in this country,” completely ignoring the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, and centuries of actual American history.

“Black Americans really created democracy in this country,” Ocasio-Cortez stated with the same confidence she brings to every other factually challenged pronouncement.

This isn’t just a slip of the tongue. It’s a deliberate rewriting of history that’s become standard operating procedure for the radical left.

The United States was founded as a constitutional republic in 1776 by the Founding Fathers — men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and James Madison. They created the framework of American democracy through documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

Did Black Americans play a crucial role in expanding and perfecting American democracy? Absolutely.

The civil rights movement, the abolition of slavery, and the long struggle for equal rights under the law represent some of the most important chapters in American history. But claiming they “created” democracy in America erases the actual historical record.

This is the same AOC who famously compared immigration detention facilities to concentration camps, claimed the world would end in 12 years from climate change, and suggested we could pay for Medicare for All by simply growing plants.

But this latest claim is particularly dangerous because it’s not just ignorance — it’s historical revisionism designed to advance a political agenda. The woke left wants to paint America’s founding as illegitimate, our history as irredeemably racist, and our entire system as something that needs to be torn down and rebuilt according to their socialist vision.

This is what’s being taught in schools across America right now. Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project, and other left-wing curriculum frameworks push this same narrative: that America wasn’t really founded in 1776, that our democracy is a lie, and that everything needs to be viewed through the lens of race and oppression.

The congresswoman represents a district in New York City, home to some of the nation’s top universities and museums. She has access to every historical resource imaginable.

There’s simply no excuse for this level of historical ignorance from an elected federal lawmaker. But when you’re more interested in pushing an ideological agenda than learning actual history, facts become inconvenient obstacles to be ignored or rewritten.

Conservative Americans have been sounding the alarm about the left’s assault on American history for years. We’ve watched as statues of Founding Fathers get torn down, as schools rename buildings to erase our heritage, and as radicals like AOC spread false narratives about our nation’s origins.

The truth matters. History matters.

America was created by the Founding Fathers who risked everything to establish a nation based on the revolutionary idea that rights come from God, not government. That system, though imperfect, created the framework that eventually led to the expansion of rights and freedoms to all Americans.

Black Americans didn’t create that system, but they fought courageously to make it live up to its founding promises. That’s a story of triumph and perseverance that deserves to be told accurately — not used as a political weapon to tear down American institutions.
