Wyatt’s Take

  • Authorities say this elderly man was left suffering alone for nearly a full day while his wife went about her business.
  • The case shows what happens when family responsibility breaks down and the most vulnerable are left without care.
  • Heartland families have always taken care of their own. This story is a tragic reminder of what goes wrong when that duty is ignored.

A West Virginia woman now faces serious criminal charges after investigators say she left her frail, dementia-stricken husband stuck on the toilet for 19 hours without food, water, or medication.

Margaret Rog, 75, was arrested and charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult in the death of her 76-year-old husband.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, the man went to the bathroom around 3 p.m. on August 20 but could not get up on his own because of his severe health issues including dementia, Alzheimer’s, and legal blindness.

Investigators claim Rog knew her husband needed help but deliberately chose not to call anyone or offer assistance.

“The man was left unattended and unresponsive for 19 hours without food, water or his prescribed medications.”

Deputies say Rog watched her husband groan in pain but went to bed anyway, leaving him stuck on the toilet overnight.

The next morning a speech therapist arrived for a scheduled home visit and found the man in terrible condition, leading to an emergency hospital trip.

Doctors diagnosed heart failure, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, sepsis and other life-threatening conditions. The man died in the hospital on August 31.

Investigators determined the injuries from being left on the toilet were significant contributing factors in his death.

Rog pleaded not guilty and posted a $75,000 bond.

Wyatt Matters

America was built on families looking after each other, especially when times get hard. When that duty gets cast aside, the results can be heartbreaking and deadly. Strong communities still believe in taking care of their own instead of turning away.

AARP is strictly an arm of the political Democratic Party, has zero influence in day to day health of seniors. Actually unless you can dial 911 yourself you will get no help! I fear for all these new families that put jobs before kids…they will have zero family support when they get elderly. Families are the Best for help and truly compassionate care!

We have successfully outbred the nurturing trait out of our women through feminism. It’s high time time they are held accountable and pay the price. It’s the only way to regain their sanity.

Thank God Gloria S. has been taken into eternity. Feminism on wheels. Now we have generations without feelings, to take responsibility for themselves or others.Hearts have grown cold. Remember, each of us will enter eternity and have to give an account for our lives. These relatives will give witness to our actions, or non-action.
It is time to be thankful for all that has been given to us. How many of the lepers (healed) were grateful and came back to Jesus to give thanks. Only the foreigner.

I take care of my 91 year old husband. I am 85 and could not even think of leaving him for a second. I have to help him get out of bed and to the bathroom and clean him, but I do not know her so all I can say is she must be evil. Don’t know how long they were married we have been married for 69 years and hope to make it to at least 75.

It seems like all the things that women have achieved over the decades, are being lost to a bunch of mentally ill women. Women have had to fight for everything, and now it’s all being taken away by a bunch of unfeeling, hypocritical women. The schools have taught them to basically be heartless and without souls. It’s really a shame. Although it’s possible, this woman was just tired of taking care of her husband so she figured, if he dies, I won’t have to worry anymore. Just another stupid ass bitch.
