January 1, Senate DEFIES Trump Deadline on Border Bill — GOP Leader Makes Stunning Move

Wyatt’s Take
- Senate just walked away for Memorial Day vacation without passing Trump’s border security bill — left the President hanging despite his clear June 1 deadline
- GOP Senate leader decided a holiday break was more important than securing our border and backing up the President’s immigration crackdown
- Massive $72 billion border enforcement package now sitting in limbo while illegal crossings continue and cartels laugh at our dysfunctional Congress
The Senate just pulled the rug out from under President Trump’s immigration enforcement push. Despite a clear deadline from the White House, Republican senators packed their bags and headed home for Memorial Day recess without passing critical border security funding.
Senate Majority Leader announced Thursday the chamber would abandon efforts to pass the reconciliation package before the break. The move directly defies Trump’s demand to have the bill on his desk by June 1.
CBP/ICE funding bill will not be on President Trump’s desk by June 1st, as he had said he wanted.

The stalled legislation would provide a staggering amount of funding for federal immigration enforcement. Trump’s administration has been pushing hard for the resources to carry out his promised crackdown on illegal immigration and border chaos.
But instead of staying in Washington to finish the job, Senate leadership decided lawmakers needed their vacation more than America needed border security. The decision leaves Trump’s enforcement agencies waiting for critical funding while the border crisis continues.
Republican control of both chambers was supposed to mean swift action on conservative priorities. Yet here we sit with another example of Washington gridlock getting in the way of the President’s agenda.
The reconciliation bill was designed to bypass Democrat obstruction and fund Trump’s immigration priorities with simple majority votes. Now that strategy sits dormant while senators enjoy their long weekend.
Working Americans don’t get to just leave their jobs unfinished when deadlines approach. But in Washington, political elites play by different rules — even when they’re supposedly on the same team as the President.
Wyatt Matters
This is exactly the kind of swamp behavior that drives regular folks crazy. Trump gave Congress a clear deadline and a clear mission — secure the border and fund enforcement. Instead, they chose vacation days over national security. When your plumber says he’ll be there Tuesday and doesn’t show up, you fire him. Maybe it’s time voters remembered they’re the boss, not these comfortable politicians who can’t even back up their own president when he’s trying to protect American communities from illegal immigration chaos.
