January 1, Georgia Supreme Court Victory Stuns Democrats in Critical Swing State

Wyatt’s Take
- Two conservative Georgia Supreme Court justices crushed their Democrat challengers in a major upset that has the left reeling heading into 2026
- This rare Republican judicial win in a battleground state shows Middle America is sick of activist judges legislating from the bench
- Georgia voters rejected the Democrat machine’s attempt to pack the state’s highest court with liberal operatives who would rubber-stamp their radical agenda
Two Georgia Supreme Court justices backed by Republicans scored decisive victories Tuesday against Democratic challengers in what’s being called a stunning setback for liberals during the 2026 election cycle. Incumbent justices Charles Bethel and Sarah Warren defeated their opponents—liberal challenger Miracle Rankin and former Democratic state Senator Jen Jordan—sending shockwaves through progressive circles that expected to flip these critical seats.
Former Republican Georgia Governor Nathan Deal appointed both Bethel and Warren to the state’s highest court. Their wins represent a major rebuke to Democrats who poured resources into these races hoping to reshape Georgia’s judiciary with left-wing activists.
The victories are especially significant given Georgia’s status as a must-win swing state. Democrats had targeted these judicial seats as part of their long-game strategy to control the courts and advance policies they can’t pass through legitimate legislative means.
Conservative legal experts are calling the results a clear signal that voters see through the left’s court-packing schemes. By keeping experienced, constitutionally-grounded justices on the bench, Georgians rejected the radical transformation Democrats had planned for their state’s legal system.
The defeats mark a rare bright spot for Republicans in what many political observers expected to be a challenging midterm cycle. While Democrats continue to dominate headlines with their coastal elite fundraising operations, grassroots conservatives in Georgia showed up when it mattered most.
Legal analysts note that judicial races typically fly under the radar for most voters, making these Republican victories even more impressive. The wins suggest that conservative messaging about preserving constitutional principles and rejecting activist judges is resonating with everyday Americans.
Democrats now face the reality that their expensive attempt to reshape Georgia’s Supreme Court has failed spectacularly. The state’s highest court will continue to interpret the law rather than rewrite it from the bench—exactly what our founders intended.
Wyatt Matters
This is about protecting the rule of law from judges who think their job is to push a political agenda instead of following the Constitution. Working families in Georgia understand that when courts get politicized, everyday Americans lose. They want judges who apply the law fairly—not activists in robes legislating their personal beliefs. This win shows that common sense still matters in the heartland, and voters won’t stand for the left’s games.
