  • Federal investigators are digging into Ilhan Omar’s past while questioning her own sister in the middle of the probe.
  • The same sister has ties to a massive COVID-era fraud scheme that stole millions from American taxpayers.
  • DNA evidence reportedly collected in the case shows Washington is finally taking these serious accusations seriously.

Federal investigators interviewed the sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar as part of their investigation into the embattled congresswoman, according to a new report.

Agents spoke with Sahra Noor the same day a team searched Omar’s Washington, D.C., home, Fox News reported Tuesday. Federal investigators are currently looking into whether Omar committed immigration fraud, including allegations that she married her brother.

Noor is currently touring the United States to promote her book, “Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story.” One of the stops on her tour was reportedly canceled last week as the raid on her sister unfolded.

Omar and Noor came to the United States in the 1990s after the brutal Somali regime of communist dictator Siad Barre was overthrown. Nur Omar Mohamed, Omar’s father, was a high-ranking military official in Barre’s government who lived on a guarded compound. They were granted refugee status after leaving the country during the fall of Barre’s regime.

Noor, who currently lives in Kenya, is linked to the COVID-era “Feeding Our Future” scam, a Daily Wire investigation found. Before moving back overseas, Noor used the address of a woman who was business partners with several individuals convicted in the massive fraud scheme.

In 2019, Noor founded a group called Grit Partners Consulting which she says “has secured more than $20 million in funding for health initiatives” and has “consulted on projects backed by” federal health agencies such as USAID and the Centers for Disease Control.

Grit Partners was incorporated at a home in Lakeville, Minnesota. A woman living at that home was tied to three individuals convicted over their involvement in the Feeding Our Future fraud, which entailed billing the federal government for meals for children that were never distributed.

The Daily Wire reached out to Noor for comment on what her conversation with investigators focused on.

The New York Post reported Monday that federal investigators have gathered DNA evidence as part of the probe into Omar. They are reportedly looking into accusations that Omar’s former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, is her biological brother. The two married in 2009 before separating shortly after and later divorcing in 2017. Omar denies that she ever married her brother.
