Wyatt’s Take

  • U.S. Southern Command conducted a precision strike on a vessel operated by designated terrorist organizations, killing two narco-traffickers and rescuing six survivors from known drug-trafficking routes.
  • Trump administration continues its aggressive counter-narcotics campaign that’s eliminated over 200 suspected narco-terrorists since September, despite pushback from establishment Republicans and Democrats.
  • Critics like Rand Paul worry about due process, but the military is using intelligence to target vessels engaged in trafficking operations that fuel America’s deadly drug crisis.

The U.S. military struck another vessel carrying suspected narco-traffickers in the Caribbean on Sunday, killing two and rescuing six others. Gen. Francis L. Donovan of the Marine Corps, leader of U.S. Southern Command, authorized the lethal kinetic strike against what the military described as a vessel operated by designated terrorist organizations.

Military intelligence indicated the vessel was traveling along well-known narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean and actively engaged in drug smuggling operations. After the strike, Southern Command immediately alerted the U.S. Coast Guard to launch search and rescue operations for the six male survivors.

This marks the latest action in the Trump administration’s aggressive campaign to eliminate narco-terrorists at sea. Since September, these military operations have resulted in more than 200 deaths of suspected drug traffickers operating in Caribbean and Pacific waters.

The Pentagon has declined to release the identities of those killed in the strikes or provide physical evidence of narcotics found aboard the targeted vessels. This policy has drawn criticism from both Democrats and some Republican lawmakers, including Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who has questioned the strikes’ legality and raised concerns about potential civilian casualties.

“I look at my colleagues who say they’re pro-life, and they value God’s inspiration in life, but they don’t give a s‑‑- about these people in the boats,” Paul said in January. “Are they terrible people in the boats? I don’t know. They’re probably poor people in Venezuela and Colombia.”

Paul has cited Coast Guard statistics showing that a significant percentage of vessels boarded on suspicion of drug trafficking turn out to be innocent. Human rights organizations have also condemned the strikes as extrajudicial killings conducted without due process.

The administration maintains these operations target designated terrorist organizations involved in narco-trafficking that threatens American communities. The strikes represent a dramatic escalation in U.S. counter-narcotics operations compared to previous administrations.

Why It Matters

Americans are tired of watching drugs pour across our borders and poison our communities. While the establishment wrings its hands over procedures, traffickers operate with impunity on routes they’ve used for decades. The Trump military is taking direct action against organizations the government has already designated as terrorists—groups profiting from America’s drug crisis. Middle America families burying loved ones lost to fentanyl and other drugs don’t care about Washington’s debate over paperwork. They want results, and they want the flow of poison stopped before it reaches their towns.
