  • Police arrested another boy of the same age and recovered a pistol.
  • Investigators are still working to determine how the handgun was obtained.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. in Heartland, and first responders airlifted the wounded boy to a Dallas hospital.

Doctors said the boy is in stable condition and recovering at home.

Police said the case appears to be an isolated fight between the two children.

Mayor David Lindsey called the incident heartbreaking.

    No fight between children requires that one of them bring a handgun. This should have been handled by parents taking the gun from the kid and a sit down between the kids with an adult who was not a parent of either kids moderating the discussion.

    The “wounded boy’s civil suit” will prompt the other boy’s parents to handle the situation FASTER THAN THE LAW WILL HANDLE HIM!!
