Wyatt’s Take

  • TSA callout rates at the Atlanta airport hit nearly 42 percent as agents face financial hardship.
  • Wait times reached up to nine hours during the peak of the travel chaos this week.
  • ICE agents have been deployed to assist security lines to keep people moving.

Working folks are paying the price for political games in Washington while our nation’s busiest airport grinds to a halt.

It is a disgrace that American travelers are being held hostage by federal staffing shortages and budget stalemates.

Travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport faced nightmare conditions this week.

Some people waited in security lines for nine hours as the staffing crisis worsened.

Reports show that many TSA agents are calling out of work or even quitting because they are not getting paid.

The shutdown has left essential workers in a bind, with some taking side jobs just to feed their families.

“Due to TSA staffing constraints, ATL is continuing to see longer than normal wait times at security checkpoints,” the airport posted publicly.

The Department of Homeland Security blamed the situation on political opponents.

They argued that the refusal to fund the department is causing extraordinary financial hardship for officers.

“Democrats are hurting Americans—and they don’t care,” the DHS stated.

President Trump weighed in on the deployment of ICE agents to the airports to help speed up the process.

He requested that these agents show their faces while helping citizens in this domestic crisis.

“I would greatly appreciate, however, NO MASKS, when helping our Country out of the Democrat caused MESS at the airports,” Trump posted.

The standoff in Congress continues to center on disagreements over federal immigration enforcement policies.

Until a deal is reached, the heartland’s travel hubs remain in total disarray.

Wyatt Matters

Middle Americans expect the government to perform its basic duties without disrupting our daily lives and travel. When federal squabbles prevent people from getting to work or visiting family, it shows how out of touch the ruling class has become with the working man.
