January 1, Midnight Intruder Shot Dead at Mar-a-Lago

Wyatt’s Take
- Armed man tries breaking into Mar-a-Lago overnight
- Secret Service agents respond with deadly force
- No injuries to law enforcement or Trump family
Early Sunday, Secret Service agents shot and killed a man carrying what looked like a shotgun after he tried to break in at Mar-a-Lago during the night. The suspect, said to be in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after ignoring orders and raising his weapon.
The breach happened at the north gate around 1:30 a.m., with local deputies backing up the agents. Officials said the man also had a fuel can and refused orders to drop the shotgun, instead raising it into “shooting position.”
“At that point, Secret Service agents had acted to ‘neutralize the threat,’” said Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.
No Secret Service protectees were present, and nobody from law enforcement was hurt. President Trump was not at the estate at the time of the incident.
The FBI is now in charge of the investigation, with Secret Service and local authorities assisting. All agents involved were placed on administrative leave while things are sorted out.
Palm Beach County authorities say they’ll support the federal investigation in any way needed.
Wyatt Matters
This hits home for folks who worry about safety and law enforcement doing their jobs. Americans depend on these people to handle big threats so families can sleep at night.
