Wyatt’s Take

  • A box of official election ballots showed up alongside an Amazon order in Maine.
  • Democrats keep fighting voter ID, claiming fraud isn’t a problem, but Americans see it’s common sense.
  • Without real safeguards, questionable ballots could decide who wins—both in Maine and nationwide.

Trust in fair elections is essential, and Mainers just got a wake-up call when a woman found 250 official ballots in a shipping box with her Amazon delivery. The discovery happened just as folks are set to vote on whether Maine should require photo ID for all ballots.

Democrats, led by state party chair Charlie Dingman, admitted in a text blast that voter ID could cost them thousands of votes. They’re working hard to block the law, saying it isn’t needed.

Shenna Bellows, the Secretary of State, claimed fraud isn’t real in Maine, but she’s also the one running for governor next year while overseeing ballot security. Bellows announced an investigation, yet many don’t feel confident anything will change.

“Go jump in the Gulf of Maine,” Bellows told the federal government when they asked for voter rolls.

The facts are plain as day—voter fraud has been found across the country. A North Carolina election had to be redone in 2018. Illegal voting led to arrests in Iowa and Pennsylvania just last year. Yet, leaders keep telling us it’s not a problem.

Most Americans, no matter who they vote for, believe showing ID at the polls is just common sense. According to Gallup, eighty percent of folks support it. You need ID to fly or buy a drink—why not to vote?

If Maine passes Question One, voters will need to show photo ID to get an absentee ballot, and things like the Amazon ballot mess can be stopped cold. Without these steps, fraud stays a risk, and every close election is up for grabs.

Maine’s split vote has real muscle in national politics, tipping the scales in Congress or the White House. That’s why this isn’t just a local fight—it matters to the whole country.

Democrats say we should trust the system, but they won’t put basic protections in place. Honest elections start with voter ID laws, and Maine’s future—and America’s—depend on it.
